Gazzanats Tri Series

After 2 rounds at Mildura and Bairnsdale in late 2013 Portland held the final round of the Gazzanats Tri Series on Feb 15th. Going into the event there were several entrants with opportunities to win the series but 4 realistic chances if all went to plan.

Matt Power in the 1 Tonner was in front, closely behind was Steve Edsel in the XC Cobra ute. Mick Chomagko in the 6 cylinder Gemini and Aaron Douch in he’s LJ Torana were still in with a shot too.

Saturday dawned fine and hot with over 70 entrants. After power skids, qualifying burnouts and Go-To-Whoa the Liqui Moly burnout final started at 3.30pm. After some great burnouts Matt Power, all the way from Lightening Ridge emerged the winner after an awesome skid.

Throughout the series he has taken home approx $5k in cash and won a trip for 2 to the US and will hopefully catch some events while he is over there.

This was the first year of the Tri series put on by Gary and Deby Myers, Clint and Robyn Ogilvie, very successful and hopefully even bigger next year.
